I N G R I D I E N T S
10 Tbs unsalted butter, softened
2 tablespoons golden syrup or dark corn syrup
1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 cup plain flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
2 Tbsp Orange zest
5 Tbsp Fresh orange juice
Chocolate Ganache Icing
3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
3 tbs fresh Orange juice
1 tsp orange zest
D I R E C T I O N S
Preheat oven at 160° C. Grease and line a cake tin with parchment paper or butter.
In a large bowl, beat the butter, syrup and sugar until smooth with an electric mixer.
In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and cocoa powder. Mix little dry ingredients into the syrup mixture, then beat in one egg. Add another couple of spoonfuls of dry ingredients before beating in the remaining egg.
Fold in remaining dry ingredients, and then add, while still folding, the orange zest. Gradually add the juice. The batter may look slightly curdled.
Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 45 minutes, till spongy and dry to touch and toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. Carefully remove from the pan and cool completely.
Melt the chocolate chips over double boiler or microwave. Give it a whip till becomes smooth. Add orange juice and pour over the cake and decorate with orange zest Ingredients
