Believed to be the most photographed bridge in the world, this landmark was named one of the seven civil engineering wonders of the United States by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1994. The bridge was completed on April 19, 1937, and officially opened to pedestrians on May 27 of that year. As part of the festivities, Strauss (Engineer behind this construction of this marvel) dedicated a poem titled “A Mighty Task Is Done.” The following day, President Roosevelt announced that the bridge was open to cars and the rest of the world via White House telegraph.People have long mistaken the colour of the bridge as red but it actually is called 'international orange'. This colour for the bridge was a beautiful accident. The steel parts arrived in an orangey red primer, which was quickly recognized to meld best with the scenery. The tall towers, the famous red paint joband theiconic piece of architecture will be the perfect backdrop for someone who loves to travel.
