Mirrors

Mirrors are more than an object to check your own reflection; if used objectively in design it is a beautiful mirror that can amplify light, add drama, create interesting reflections and frame views. Think beyond the bathroom mirror, and find ways to transform your space into a curatively styled space.

Brighten A Room With A Mirror

To increase the amount of natural light cast around a room, simply place a mirror opposite or beside a window; no matter how gloomy the sky is outside, it will harness any available daylight. The larger the mirror, the brighter the space will feel. It’s not just natural light that can be fashioned with mirrors; mirrors effectively accentuate the yield from other light sources too. Try a sonorous space or a dark corner by placing a mirror near a table lamp. It makes all the difference to the dimension and chic of the space.

A Focal Point With A Mirror

When it comes to selecting art and accessories for your home, a mirror with a baroquely carved edge can make as much of an impact as a beautiful painting. Mantels are often a common spot above which a mirrors is hung in most spaces but, in rooms lacking this feature, a large piece, such as a simple large round or rectangular mirror, is a great means for verbalizing the center of that space. Alternatively, experiment with a grouping of smaller mirrors to breathe new life into a plain wall is a trending décor idea currently. Whether you choose uniformity – mirrors of the same shape, and with the same looking frame – or curate an eclectic mix of designs, shapes and sizes, the outcome will make a marvelous statement.

Mirrors can intensify areas, make a small space look vaster, or enhance the lighting in a room. They can be used to craft intriguing views or add a tinge of drama to space. Placed next to a lampshade, a mirror will augment the glow in the room.

Make The Mirror A Window

In windowless spaces – typically, in darker areas of the home (think entrances, foyers, hallways) is to select a mirror that’s designed to mimic the shape of a traditional window frame, such as to create the illusion of light spilling through a window pane.
